FANFIC: WhoSliders #27 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 5 – GOING DOWN TO LIVERPOOL

“Are you Sliders?” Archer asked. “Yes”, Logan said.
“Have you travelled with the Doctor?”
“The Doctor? Who?” Logan asked. “Oh the Doctor!” Lassar said “Oh, yes we have. I was one of his companions for quite some time”, lying through his teeth. Continue reading FANFIC: WhoSliders #27 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 5 – GOING DOWN TO LIVERPOOL

FANFIC: WhoSliders #26 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 4 – DIFFERENT LIGHT

The segment was located in the Tahwid building.
Jade Wells checked out the latest news and read about what had happened in that very building. They would have to go there even though it would be very dangerous for sure.
After entering, the team separated to try and find the segment in the fastest time possible.
However, Professor Maximillian got struck by a laser. He was hurt but not severely injured.
At the same time, elsewhere, Captain Jack was electrocuted after touching the door. He died shouting from the pain. Continue reading FANFIC: WhoSliders #26 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 4 – DIFFERENT LIGHT

Back To The Future Day 2015 Has Come and Gone

The popular 80’s movie Back To The Future II depicted a very different – yet similar – future of the year 2015. In the movie, Marty McFly and Doc Brown went to the future and emerged on 21st October 2015 – just a couple of days ago.

Imagine if they came to OUR 2015 instead:
backtothefuture2015

Things they got ALMOST right: the Cubs winning the World Series (they ended up in the final).

The famous Hoverboard scene:

Things they got right or almost: Compost fuel (biogas) exists, though it’s not too popular ; flying cars like the Terrafugia but nobody uses them; the Hoverboard (it’s called a hoverboard but has two wheels and is more like a segway); Tablets; Wearable EyeGlass devices (think Google Glass); Self-tying shoes (Nike actually invented them); 3d Movies (not Jaws 19 but there are so many sequels) ; Holograms (the Michael Jackson hologram exists); Flat-Screen tv’s; Skype; Automated waiters (just think of iPlace in Malta).

There’s an amazing Parody version of a trailer of an imagined new BTTF movie:

Michael J Fox trying on the self-lacing shoes FOR REAL:

Toyota did a video reuniting the two stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

Teens react to BTTF:

A video showing Marty McFly and Doc Brown ending up in OUR 2015 instead:

This video shows how Back to the Future predicted 9/11. Hmm, interesting coincidences.

Universal Pictures created a fake Jaws 19 trailer in time for Back to the Future Day too!

WhoSliders #25 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 3 – STEALING ROSEMARY

Captain Jack told Rose “Let’s get out of here, get the others and slide out!”
“Oh no you don’t. You give us the segment” Lassar pointed his gun at the captain now.
“No way” Jack moved towards Lassar.
“I warned you – don’t come any closer!”
Lassar shot Jack, who fell to the ground, dead.

Doctor Who’s Rory (Arthur Darville) leads a group of heroes and villains

In Legends of Tomorrow by DC, Doctor Who’s Arthur Darville (known as Rory by us fans) is going to play time traveller Rip Hunter (a Time Master) and lead a group of heroes and villains..

Looking forward to this, with Black Canary, The Atom, The Flash, Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold, Firestorm,… They are going to fight the immortal Vandal Savage.

Avengers Age of Ultron Review

The-Avengers-Age-of-Ultron-movie-wallpaperSCIREV

So, here we are, Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron weekend, it was the free comic book day weekend too and I went to watch Age of Ultron in 3D.

It was worth the wait since the past Marvel movies. But how does it measure up? Was it entertaining? Yes! Of course as comics fans we will notice the little differences to the original stories (especially the plotlines from the 60’s, 70’s etc). Director/writer Joss Whedon does a great job, bringing them up to date and up to scratch. The baddie Ultron is as evil as you can depict on screen, a challenging enemy for our heroes. My only question is that Iron Man shouldn’t have been able to control his own armour after Jarvis has been taken over. At the very least it was not explained how his armour kept running. Did he just control it without an AI?

The love angle between the Incredible Hulk and the Black Widow was very credible and a high point of the movie. How the story ends with the hulk is reminiscent of some 90’s Hulk issues I think.  Very inspired and should lead in to a Hulk movie I hope, perhaps one where we get to see Jarella now..

The rest of the movie? Amazing fights, great story and character developments. We see the heroes’ dreams (and we see Peggy Carter again) and nightmares. We get to meet War Machine (Rhodey) and the Falcon again, a nice touch. Too bad the Falcon had nothing to do, but hey, he shows up twice..

And the endings are a lead in to a fight with Thanos. Where’s Captain Marvel? (the original I mean, I hope he isn’t just replaced by Ms Marvel as Captain Marvel.. PLEASE don’t)

Another touch I liked is the treatment of civilians. Civilians get evacuated to safety, at least some of them. In comparison with the recent Superman movie, where Superman doesn’t care at all for them. (Is that why many dislike Superman today? he’s no longer the boy scout, at least in the movies and new 52 comics)

I think it’s worth watching, and the 3D works great. And we get our first two mutants in the Avengers movies, but there are losses which mean certain stories won’t happen (too bad 🙁 )…

WhoSliders #24 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 2 – MARY STREET

The Stargate was out there in the open!
Rose asked a passer-by where the place was.. The man replied that this was Sliema, thinking they were tourists.
Professor Arthur said what kind of name is that? Rose saw a newspaper on a newstand, she read it and told the others they were on an island called Malta.
“Hmm.. the stargate must be public knowledge here.” Rose commented.
In front of them there was a big sign saying “LAZARUS: THE REGENERATION OF AN AREA, FROM RED TO GREEN“.

WhoSliders #23 – ROSE’S SLIDERS: KEYQUEST 1 – HAZY SHADE OF WINTER

.. when they landed, they could see they were on Conaxia. The signs littered across the landscape said so, at least. ‘Conaxia, the land of plenty‘. Only it was quite barren and cold now.
“Hello, Rose Tyler!” Rose and the others heard this female voice quite clearly.
“Welcome to Conaxia! I am the White Guardian!”
