Well known British director Ben Wheatley has told the press that he will be directing the first episodes of Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who.

Announced by the BBC, Wheatley who is popular for thrillers Kill List and Sightseers, will be filming the first two episodes of Series 8 (to be shown next Autumn).

Quoted in Screen Daily, Wheatley said “I’ve been a fan since childhood”.

In the Christmas Special Matt Smith is expected to regenerate into the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, who is well known for his part as spin doctor Malcolm Tucker (The Thick of It).
