This is a fanfic crossover between the British tv show Doctor Who (featuring the 8th Doctor from the tv movie and BBC novels) and the Maltese tv show UC5 (aka Undercover 5), the prequel to Dejjem Tieghek Becky.
Story (C) 2003-2010 Mr Scirev.
Spoilers: Dr Who Timeline Related to this Fanfic: It happens straight after the BBC Books 8DA “FALL OF YQUATINE”.
What you need to know:
“The Doctor is a Time Lord – a time-traveller from the alien world called Gallifrey who travels in space and time thanks to his TARDIS which looks like a police box, bigger inside than outside. When the Doctor is severely injured or even killed, he will regenerate into a new appearance and body. He is currently in his eighth incarnation (7th regeneration). His thirteenth will be the last.
The Doctor with his companions – currently Fitz Kreiner and Compassion herself – are on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless and the powerless throughout the universe. This story’s theme: Compassion (The Doctor’s new TARDIS, a living machine which can travel through space and time but which can appear in humanoid form) is stuck in the shape of a Maltese policewoman named Becky (from the Undercover, UC5 PBS show) from 2003. The problem? Becky has recently drowned and is believed to be dead. (happens after the BBC book 8DA ‘FALL OF YQUATINE’, after the last UC5 episode, and contemporary to the 1st DEJJEM TIEGHEK BECKY episode which I call ‘THE SEARCH’)
NEWS: posted 30/9/2003: This week Becky returns in the new show DEJJEM TIEGHEK BECKY. She’s going to resign and take a new employment on a ship now. I think she will have amnesia or something. So this fanfic can happen just the same. ”

Mr Bert, or Is-Sur Bert as he was called in Maltese, was shocked. Utterly shocked. His mouth was wide open and stared at the dark-haired woman. His eyes were glazing at her.
The woman looked back in anger, obviously offended by his stare. Bert was becoming confused. ‘How is this possible?’ he thought, loudly enough for anyone to hear him.
The woman walked away quickly. Meanwhile, the Doctor and Fitz were viewing Mr Bert on what looked like an early 21st century LCD widescreen monitor. They were inside Compassion. It was an amusing scene, for sure. But why did he stare? The Doctor told Fitz that it would be a good idea for them to exit from the Doctor’s new humanoid TARDIS Compassion, so they could take a good look around. ‘Compassion, let’s go outside.’ Compassion looked like a normal woman from the outside. “Inside” her was actually another dimension, an enormous space just like the old TARDIS, and that was were the Doctor and Fitz were. They could see what Compassion was seeing on the monitor.
Compassion stopped walking, now that the man was out of sight. He did not seem to have followed her.
She opened her mouth wide — wider — impossibly wide and from that space, the Doctor and Fitz emerged.
‘Where’s Compassion?’ Fitz asked.
‘Hm.. well. That’s her’, the Doctor mumbled. She didn’t look right.
‘It’s me all right. I’m just.. different’ she said.
‘But Compassion, you look, well, different entirely! A policewoman!’
‘Your chameleon circuit must have overloaded. But at least it’s still working – it’s not like you’ve taken the form of some inanimate object.’
‘Where did we land, Compassion?’ Fitz asked.
‘August 2003, Earth, Malta. A small island in Europe, in the Mediterranean.’
‘It’s very hot’ the Doctor wiped some of the sweat from his brow.
‘There’s a heatwave.’ Compassion said.
‘Never seen such weather in my time’ Fitz commented, referring to the sixties which was the time he was from.
‘Let’s have a look around’ the Doctor began to walk. Shops were closed, because it was a national holiday. 15th August, feastday of the Assumption of Our Lady in Heaven, anniversary of the Santa Maria convoy. Our Lady had interceded with God for the miracle of food supplies to enter the port otherwise Malta would have fallen to the Nazi enemy during the war. The Doctor explained this to Fitz.

Shouting ‘Rajt fantazma! Ghost! Ghost!’ (I saw a ghost!), Mr Bert ran throughout the streets of his hometown. People who heard him thought he was going crazy.
People rarely believed his stories, let alone this. ‘Rajt ‘il Becky! I saw Becky!’
Becky was dead after all. She had recently drowned at sea. Her partner on the beat was a policeman called Sandro. A young tall man, Sandro was driving a policecar when he saw Bert shouting and screaming. He stopped the car and parked to the side. He ran after Bert, yelling at him. Bert stopped when he met Sandro. ‘I saw her, she’s alive!’
‘Who’s alive?’
‘Becky!’
‘What are you saying? Are you sure you haven’t been drinking?’
‘No, you know I don’t drink! I’m sure it was her! She was dressed as a policewoman, in her usual uniform! She might have been a ghost for all I know!’
‘Where did you see her?’
‘Just a few streets away. I’ll take you there.’
Sandro decided to phone Becky’s mother, a government minister, at her house. She didn’t answer the phone. Her maid did and he left a message which was unfortunately not too detailed.
Sandro and Mr Bert looked at Becky, or rather, Compassion. They noticed she was not alone. She was with two persons who looked like foreigners. Two british chaps, from the appearance, Sandro noted.
“Becky! What happened to you? You were missing!” Sandro shouted.
“What’s he on about?” Compassionwondered, aloud. The Doctor was quick to say “Oh no..”.
“She’s lost her memory! Amnesia!” Sandro shouted. “We need a Doctor!”
“It seems they know you, Compassion”. Fitz said, laughing.
Mr Bert looked at the Doctor and said “Do I know YOU? You seem familiar…”
“No you don’t know me.. yet” the Doctor replied. “When you do meet Becky, tell her to change her job though..”
OTHER CHARACTERS: INSPECTOR ZRINZO (Kind of a Maltese Inspector Zanigata if you ask me, only he’s married and his wife hates Becky. He doesn’t like Becky, too and tries to make life hell for her usually.)

AUTHOR NOTES
A cool idea… now that Becky’s missing.
FACTOID: Mr Bert in UC5 was played by great Maltese actor Martin Sapiano who I had once suggested (on internet forums/lists) for the role of the 8th Doctor Who! (before we knew what form the tv-movie took). I told him this once. He used to watch Doctor Who, too.
Becky was played by Eileen Montesin on the tv shows UC5 and Dejjem Tieghek Becky.
